About Stu KENSON ...

Longtime surfer Stu Kenson has always been one of San Diego's most respected custom surfboard builders. The founder of Evening Glass, Stu has worked with Weber Surfboards, Rusty, and Joel Tudor and his own label Stu Kenson Surfboards.

He started doing ding repair at around 13 to 14 a years old in California.
Making his first board during the summer of 1971 had a huge impact on him. He lived near the Clark Foam blanks factory and working in a surfshop where Terry Martin was the main shaper. The shapers David Craig, Max McDonald, Jeff Mack, Darryl Bulger and Jason Stevenson have influenced him. But it's his meeting with Rusty Priesendorfer who probably learned more from him than anyone. He was also a shaper of Kan Garden project.
Stu Kenson is worlwide knowing for his performance shortboards, big wave guns, longboards and many other alternative surfboards (single, twin fish, twinzer and mid-length board) like some famous boards for Joel Tudor.
After working for JS industrie USA, he continue de manage and develop his own label SK surfboards. Some of the world’s finest surfers rely on Kenson to provide them with boards, including Big Wave Tour competitor Shawn Dollar, Colin Dywer, Luca Padua, Will Skudin and Travis Payne.

Stu Kenson arrive in France at the UWL SHAPERS CLUB for the first time, so don't miss your chance to meet him and ask him to shape your better custom surfboard !

OG MODEL
The late 70’s had quite a bit of different ideas being explored in surfboard design. Pre twin fin era , singlefin s we’re evolving in a few different directions . Some stayed with the Brewer influence with shorter wide based fins close to the tail blocks , and others went in a different direction , fins were pushed way up from the tail , with a taller fin with less rake and less area ( borrowed from the Aipa Sting) . These designs were nice and skatey, ridden from more of a forward position instead of predominantly off of your back foot.. Gonna be fun .
STUMPY

GOOD KARMA
